Frequently Asked Questions

My daughter has never been away from home for a week, will she be OK? Yes! We keep the girls very active, so they have little time to get homesick. It is very important to us that everyone feels like part of the team and makes new friends.

Where does my money go? The cost of the camp is actually very comparable to other camps of the same nature. All the behind the scenes work is done by volunteers. Our cost comes from the rental of the camp site and materials needed to run the camp. Even our councillors pay to take part.

My daughter has food allergies, can the camp accommodate her? Yes The staff at Providence Point is excellent at accommodating food allergies, but we must know 3 or 4 weeks in advance.

Can my daughter call me? Absolutely YES! Your daughter is free to call home if she is homesick, having said that we ask the girls not to bring any portable electronic devices.

What should you bring for this adventure? Check out this packing list!

Who are the team leaders? The team leaders are girls aged 17+ who have strong faith values. Everyone is chaperoned by female adult volunteers.

I am 17 or older, can I help? If you are 17 or older and wish to come back as a team leader please e-mail Julia Kelly, the program Co-ordinator: julia.kelly@sympatico.ca

What is Camp Camino? Camp Camino is a lay Catholic initiative inspired by "Camp Alize", a camp previously organized by Regnum Christi that ran from 2004-2014 on the same site (Providence Point, Lanark, Ontario). Camp Camino is run by a dedicated group of lay people deeply invested in the Catholic faith formation of young women. The camp is under the spiritual leadership of Fr. Jan Kusyk, administrator of Sacred Heart Parish, Lanark and St. Bridget's Catholic Church, Stanleyville, Ontario.

"I would recommend Camp Camino to anyone wishing to explore their faith in a fun way. The cabins are clean, activities great, you can't get enough of the food, and the people are a treat. You won't regret coming !"

"Working at Camp Camino was the highlight of my summer! Being at camp was where I felt my call to be a missionary serving others and started to have a missionary like heart. My favourite parts of camp was our canoe trip, sports, crafts and adoration, but most importantly making new friends and helping lead them into deeper relationships with Christ. I'd recommend Camp Camino to anyone!"
